It's very easy to spend time optimizing your Agile process. There are just so many fun knobs to turn!
Let's adjust our WIP limit! What would happen if we shortened our iterations? Cross train the new content marketer so we'll be more cross functional! What tool could we try out next?

But while you're fiddling with all the process dials, don't neglect the principles and values outlined in the Agile manifesto. To help remind you what's at the heart of all great Agile teams, we've put together some printable Agile manifesto PDFs (grab them here - no email needed). It includes  both the Agile Marketing Manifesto and the original Manifesto for Agile Software Development, so you can grab the ideal insight for your situation.

Want to check out the content before you click download? Here's the written breakdown.

Agile Marketing Values

  • Validated learning over opinions and conventions
  • Customer-focused collaboration over silos and hierarchy
  • Adaptive and iterative campaigns over Big Bang campaigns
  • Process of discovery over static prediction
  • Flexible planning over rigid planning
  • Responding to change over following a plan
  • Many small experiments over a few large bets

Agile Marketing Values Explained from Andrea Fryrear

Agile Marketing Principles

  • Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of marketing that solves problems.
  • We welcome and plan for change. We believe that the ability to quickly respond to change is a source of competitive advantage.
  • Deliver marketing programs frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with a preference for the shorter timescale.
  • Marketing requires close alignment with business people, sales, and development.
  • Build marketing programs around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.
  • Learning, through the build-measure-learn feedback loop, is the primary measure of progress.
  • Sustainable marketing requires you to keep a constant pace and pipeline.
  • Don't be afraid to fail, just don't fail the same way twice.
  • Continuous attention to marketing fundamentals and good design enhances agility.
  • Simplicity, the art of maximizing the work that is not done, is essential.

Agile Software Development Values

The one, the only, the original Manifesto for Agile Software Development!
Both the values and principles are included in the downloadable PDF, but if you want to try before you "buy" here they are:

  • Customer-focused collaboration over silos and hierarchy
  • Adaptive and iterative campaigns over Big Bang campaigns
  • Process of discovery over static prediction
  • Flexible planning over rigid planning

Agile Software Development Principles

Need a little more guidance? The Agile principles have you covered:

  • Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software.
  • Welcome changing requirements, even late in development. Agile processes harness change for the customer's competitive advantage.
  • Deliver working software frequently, from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, with a preference to the shorter timescale.
  • Business people and developers must work together daily throughout the project.
  • Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.
  • The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a development team is face-to-face conversation.
  • Working software is the primary measure of progress.
  • Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.
  • Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility.
  • Simplicity -- the art of maximizing the amount of work not done -- is essential.
  • The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams.
  • At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.
